How to Get Your Computer Repaired Remotely
If your computer is slow, showing errors, full of pop-ups, or not working properly, you may not need to take it to a repair shop. Many software problems can be checked and fixed remotely over the internet.
I’m Dave at CWC Computers, and I provide pre-booked remote PC repair for customers across the UK. You stay in control throughout the session, and I explain what I’m doing in plain English.
Can a Computer Be Repaired Remotely?
Yes, many computer problems can be repaired remotely if the device still turns on and can connect to the internet. Remote repair is best for software issues, settings problems, viruses, pop-ups, slow performance and email faults.
It is not suitable for broken screens, liquid damage, charging faults, hardware upgrades or computers that will not power on. If the fault needs hands-on repair, I’ll tell you before wasting your time.
What Can Be Fixed Online?
- Slow Windows PCs and laptops
- Virus, malware and pop-up problems
- Email setup and email errors
- Windows update problems
- Browser issues and unwanted extensions
- Printer and Wi-Fi connection problems
- Software setup and troubleshooting
- General software problems and settings issues
For more examples, see my guide to common problems fixed remotely.
How Remote Computer Repair Works
- You book a weekday appointment. Remote support is pre-booked between Monday and Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- I send you a secure link. I normally use AnyDesk for remote support.
- You open AnyDesk and share the code. I cannot connect unless you approve the session.
- I check and fix the problem while you watch. You can see everything happening on your screen.
- The session ends. Once finished, I no longer have access to your computer.
I’ve written a more detailed walkthrough here: how remote PC repair works step-by-step.
Is Remote Computer Repair Safe?
Remote computer repair is safe when it is handled properly. You must approve the connection, you can watch everything I do, and you can disconnect at any time.
I will never ask for banking passwords, and I will not access personal files unless you ask me to check something specific.
If you are worried about safety, read my guide: is remote computer repair safe?
How Much Does Remote Computer Repair Cost?
Typical remote support sessions start from £35. I’ll confirm the price before the session begins, so there are no surprises.
If I cannot fix the issue remotely, you do not pay for a repair.
When Remote Repair Is Not Suitable
- The computer will not turn on
- The screen is physically broken
- There is liquid damage
- The charging port or power socket is faulty
- The hard drive needs physical recovery
- The computer needs replacement parts
Should You Get Your Computer Repaired Remotely?
If the issue is software-related and your computer still connects to the internet, remote repair is often faster and easier than taking it somewhere.
If the fault needs hands-on repair, I’ll tell you straight away rather than wasting your time. That is the simple rule I work by.
