Computer Dave advice: remote support is ideal for software problems, but not every fault can be fixed online. If it needs hands-on repair, I’ll tell you before wasting your time.

What I Can Fix Remotely

  • Slow computers and poor performance
  • Virus, malware and pop-up problems
  • Email setup and email errors
  • Windows errors, updates and crashes
  • Printer and Wi-Fi connection problems
  • Software installation and setup
  • Browser problems and unwanted extensions
  • General tech support UK-wide

If you are not sure whether your issue can be sorted online, I’ve also written a plain-English guide to common problems fixed with remote PC repair.

How Remote Computer Support Works

  1. Book a weekday appointment. Remote support is pre-booked and available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
  2. I send you a simple link to download AnyDesk. You do not need to set anything up before contacting me.
  3. You open it and tell me the 9-digit code. This code is shown on your screen.
  4. I connect only after you approve it. You can see everything I do while I work.
  5. The problem is fixed while you watch. You can ask questions or disconnect at any time.
  6. The session ends. No access remains after the remote session is finished.

For a slower walkthrough, see my guide on how remote PC repair works step by step.

Is Remote PC Repair Safe?

Yes, when it is handled properly. I use secure remote support software such as AnyDesk, and you stay in control from start to finish.

  • You must accept the connection before I can access your screen
  • You can disconnect at any time
  • No background access is left running
  • No login details are stored
  • No ongoing control remains after the session
  • I will never ask for banking passwords

If you are nervous about allowing remote access, I explain the safety side in more detail here: is remote computer repair safe?

Important: once the remote session ends, I no longer have access to your computer. If you need help again, you must approve a new connection.

Remote Connection Software

I normally use AnyDesk for remote computer support. It is free for you to download and lets me connect securely once you approve the session.

You can download it from the official AnyDesk download page. You do not need to install anything before contacting me though. I’ll talk you through it step by step.

What Cannot Be Fixed Remotely

Remote IT support is ideal for software problems, but some faults need hands-on repair.

  • Broken laptop screens
  • Charging port faults
  • Liquid damage
  • Computers that will not power on
  • Failed hard drives needing physical recovery
  • Hardware upgrades or part replacements

If remote repair is not suitable, I’ll tell you straight away. For customers in Ilminster, the Ilminster computer repair page covers workshop drop-off and local collection options.

No-Fix-No-Fee Remote PC Repair

I keep remote computer support simple and fair. If I cannot fix the issue remotely, you do not pay for a repair.

Typical remote support sessions start from £35. I’ll confirm the price before the session begins.

Pricing can be confirmed before the session begins, so there are no surprises.
